1. Quotation of the Week

"A good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while
he knows something." -
 Wilson Mizner

2. Conversation Tip of the Week

What would the mothers in your life really like for Mother's Day? Dinner
at the finest restaurant? Diamonds? A new car? Bring them on! But most
of all, these women want to feel that you love and care about them. They
love your attention, even if they pretend not to. Encourage them to tell
their stories, not just today, but often.

Here are some questions that will help you connect with almost anyone
on Mother's Day.

  1. Tell me how you earned money when you were a kid.
  2. What have you done that was totally out of character?
  3. How did your kids get their names? (If the woman you're honoring
today doesn't have human kids, ask about her pets' names.)
  4. Did you get a compliment you could feast on for days?
  5. What is the first thing you notice about people? The second?
  6. Tell me how you learned to drive.
  7. What would you like to accomplish this coming year?
  8. What are some of your favorite memories of each of your children
    or grandchildren?

Let me know how it goes! Send your stories and feedback to

3. Pronounce this Word of the Week: Gobsmacked

It's GOB-smack'd, British slang meaning "utterly astonished."

New British singing sensation Susan Boyle says she is “gobsmacked,
absolutely gobsmacked” after her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent
show.

4. Humor

Sign in a beauty salon:

Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy.
